Alternatives inspires young people to create a just future through a variety of practices and programs that heal individuals, restore communities and transform systems. Alternatives has trained more than 10,000 Chicago Public School students and teachers in restorative justice programs that successfully reduced need for the use of harsh disciplinary methods. Counseling offered through the behavioral health program reaches hundreds of youth and families to overcome trauma and build resilience.

Project description: BANC consultants will develop a strategic marketing plan that focuses on pricing and expansion. The team will review the existing fee structure, analyze the competitive landscape and make recommendations on the potential for pricing changes and the expansion of their programs to the Chicago suburbs and other key markets.

Hyde Park Neighborhood Club (HPNC) brings people together to strengthen the health, vitality and sustainability of the community through programs and partnerships with a particular focus on child and youth development. Founded in 1909, HPNC draws thousands of community members with high quality childcare, athletic and enrichment programs, and events that support families at all income levels.

Project description: BANC will develop a financial modeling tool to help HPNC evaluate different scenarios associated with its facilities renovation and expansion project. The project will significantly expand the existing space and allow HPNC to serve hundreds more children and youth each year. BANC consultants will develop an Excel based, user-friendly, financial planning tool to inform strategic decisions in financing, cash flow, future programming and partnerships. Consultants will also evaluate and make recommendations on budget, capital stack, risks assumptions and, potentially, on the criteria for identifying and selecting partners.

Thrive Chicago leverages and activates relationships, resources and processes to drive collective action and lasting impact for Chicago’s Black and Brown youth. It is one of the nation’s largest citywide collective impact efforts focused on strengthening the city’s youth-serving ecosystem and improving youth outcomes at scale.

Project description: BANC consultants will identify Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to be collected that measure the impact and reach of programs targeting key outcomes and populations. The team will design data dashboards to provide quick graphic snapshots illuminating different aspects. The goals are to measure and monitor early outcomes, and to determine how successful programming can be replicated and rolled into additional communities for growth.

Women’s Business Development Center is a nationally recognized leader accelerating development of women-owned businesses and strengthening women’s participation and impact on the economy. WBDC is headquartered in Chicago and serves nine Midwest states.

Project description: BANC will develop a more robust system to measure Return on Investment (ROI). BANC consultants will evaluate existing metrics, survey best practices to collect data and key measurements among nonprofits, and recommend changes with the goal of increasing effectiveness and impact. The team will also analyse the cost/ benefit of corporate sponsorships and events, particularly in newer markets for WBDC.
