Vice President and Chief Economist
Patrick Bajari is vice president and chief economist at Amazon. Bajari leads the Worldwide Core Artificial Intelligence team comprising about 200 people across the recently merged Core Machine Learning and Central Economics teams. Since joining in 2010, he has helped Amazon build teams in econometrics, machine learning, and research science. His team of econometricians and developers have worked on software that operates pricing, supply chain, operations, automated marketing, search, and other systems at Amazon.
He is a fellow of the Econometric Society, a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, and on the board of directors of the National Association of Business Economists. He has consulted for the US Federal Trade Commission, the Federal Reserve System, and Boston Consulting Group. Prior to joining Amazon, he was a faculty member at Harvard, Stanford, Duke, Michigan, and Minnesota. Pat is a professor of economics at the University of Washington.
