A seasoned senior executive, Eric Mboma led Standard Bank DRC as chief executive and head of CIB from 2012 until 2017. He advised clients across various industries, including telecom and natural resources. Appointed by presidential order to establish the Insurance Regulatory Authority, Mboma drove the initial phases of the liberalization of the sector until August 2017. He currently chairs the board of directors of Choiseul Africa Capital. He has extensive knowledge of the African and Southeast Asia markets. Based out of Singapore from 2008 to 2012, he worked with BHP, a behemoth of the extractive industry, to acquire significant natural resources reserves.
Prior to earning an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School, Mboma graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance from IMIP and a master’s degree in information systems and strategy from ESCP.
Mboma is the recipient of many awards. He was ranked as a Top 50 Rising Star by the Africa Report, an economic news magazine, and has been selected as one of the Top 100 Africa Economic Leaders of Tomorrow by the Institut Choiseul, a Paris-based think tank, for consecutive years.
