The University of Chicago Booth School of Business will hold meetings in 13 cities around the world this summer in the effort to gather feedback from M.B.A. students during their summer internships. “We want to check-in with our interns and find out how they are doing in real-time, rather than waiting until they return to campus in the fall,” said Stacey Kole, deputy dean for the full-time M.B.A. program at Chicago Booth.
“We will ask whether their classes prepared them for their internship and is the internship what they expected,” said Kole, who will moderate the discussions along with Julie Morton, associate dean for career services.
“These meetings are a great opportunity to touch base with our students and coach them during their summer experience,” said Morton.
The sessions, known as Deans' Roundtables, began on July 9 in London and will end on July 29 in Chicago. Events will also be held in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston.
Following each one-hour session with the student interns a reception will be held featuring newly admitted students to Chicago Booth and alumni mingling with members of the M.B.A. Class of 2010.
“These sessions are an example of the expanded global outreach we are undertaking,” Kole said, adding “There is more to come.”
Kole and Morton also plan to make corporate visits in each city.
Full-time M.B.A. students typically perform an internship during the summer between their first and second year of business school.
