“Being part of a larger university means that research can be truly interdisciplinary because you have the resources
available. You can attend talks in different departments, take classes in different departments, and pursue the skills that
you believe will be necessary to make you a better researcher. I think that being associated with a first-rate university also
broadens the scope of your work as you become much more aware that you’re not a single unit within a field, but rather
you’re trying to find meaningful solutions to important research questions.”
