KEVIN MURPHY
| GEORGE J. STIGLER DISTINGUISHED SERVICE PROFESSOR OF ECONOMICS
The first business school professor awarded a MacArthur Foundation “genius grant” in
2005, Murphy researches economic forces shaping vital social phenomena, such as
wage inequality, unemployment, addiction, medical research, and economic growth. In
2007, Murphy and fellow Chicago Booth faculty member Robert Topel won the Kenneth J.
Arrow Award for the best research paper in health economics for “The Value of Health and
Longevity,” published in the
Journal of Political Economy
.
RAGHURAM RAJAN
| ERIC J. GLEACHER DISTINGUISHED SERVICE PROFESSOR OF FINANCE
In September 2013, Rajan became the 23rd governor of the Reserve Bank of India. He
is also a member of the Group of Thirty (G30), an international body that examines the
impact of financial and economic decisions in the public and private sectors. Rajan was
the economic counselor and director of research at the International Monetary Fund
(from 2003–06). He also chaired the Indian government’s Committee on Financial Sector
Reforms, which submitted its report in September 2008.
RICHARD H. THALER
| RALPH AND DOROTHY KELLER DISTINGUISHED SERVICE PROFESSOR
OF BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE AND ECONOMICS
Thaler studies behavioral economics and finance
as well as decision making, which lies in the gap between economics and psychology. He
has received numerous awards, including received the 2012 Nicholas Molodovsky Award
from the CFA Institute.
RUEY TSAY
| H.G.B. ALEXANDER PROFESSOR OF ECONOMETRICS AND STATISTICS
Tsay authored
Analysis of Financial Time Series, 3rd Edition
, published in 2010 by Wiley;

An Introduction to Analysis of Financial Data with R
, published in 2012 by Wiley.
His work in econometrics and statistics has earned Tsay the 2005 IBM Faculty Research
Award, and he was named the John Wiley & Sons Author of the Year for his book
Analysis
of Financial Time Series
.
LUIGI ZINGALES
| ROBERT C. MCCORMACK PROFESSOR OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND
FINANCE AND THE DAVID G. BOOTH FACULTY FELLOW
Zingales has won numerous awards,
including the 2003 Bernácer Prize for the best young European financial economist,
the 2008 Leo Melamed Prize for Research, and a National Science Foundation Grant in
