Leadership Opportunities
At Chicago Booth, we cultivate leaders who go on to start, lead, and transform global companies. Employers highly value that aspect of our program.
You can gain leadership experience in numerous ways. Leadership activities available range from taking a post or lead position with a student group; involvement on the Admissions Committee; representing peers in faculty and administrative matters; and assisting fellow students with career development.
You’ll find that most activities take place on weekends to allow participation by all students.

Student Group Leadership - Students can pursue a number of leadership opportunities that exist within the Chicago Booth community. With more than 35 student-led groups, evening MBA and weekend MBA students can make a profound impact by becoming a student group co-chair. These groups regularly host high-profile conferences and presentations, which give student leaders an opportunity to interact and network with some of the world’s top business and community leaders.

Admissions Committee - The Admissions Committee is a select group of evening MBA and weekend MBA students who volunteer to assist the admissions team by reading applications, conducting admissions interviews and participating in local Open House events and receptions throughout the country.
- Student Advisory Council - The Student Advisory Council (SAC) is a student-led organization that supports and enhances the evening MBA and weekend MBA student experience. Its mission is to foster community within the student population and does so through such activities as the mentoring program, philanthropy events, and networking events.
- Effective Leadership - As part of the Effective Leadership course, you will learn how to motivate people, build relationships, and influence outcomes.
- The Mentor Program - Coordinated by the Student Advisory Council, the Mentor Program is dedicated to matching incoming students with current evening MBA and weekend MBA students. The program is designed to help new students acclimate at Chicago Booth. Students can put their leadership skills to work by either volunteering as a student mentor or as coordinator of the Mentor Program itself.
