Experiential Learning

While Chicago Booth is known for its academic rigor, we recognize that theory is useless if it can’t be put into action. Through various experiential learning formats, you'll have the chance to test yourself and your ideas in real-world settings. Here are some ways you'll experience learning.

  • Lab Courses allow you to participate first-hand in solving business problems by partnering with leading corporations on current challenges they face.
  • Competitions put you in the spotlight where you'll be judged by real-world practitioners in a particular business area.
  • Effective Leadership is a program required for all students who started the program in the 2009 summer quarter or later. Students complete the Effective Leadership graduation requirement by attending a three-day program (LAUNCH) and by participating in one additional class session during their first quarter. Students complete most of their Effective Leadership curriculum during LAUNCH, in which students practice and perfect key communication skills, team building, conflict resolution, and giving and receiving feedback. Participating in workshops with a cohort, students create strong bonds and build peer relationships.
