Professors Diamond and Kashyap share insights in the New York Times Freakonomics blog

Steven Levitt, Alvin H. Baum Professor had questions about why the last 10 days have marked “the most remarkable period of government intervention into the financial system since the Great Depression.” For answers, he turned to banking experts Doug Diamond, Merton H. Miller Distinguished Service Professor of Finance , and Anil Kashyap, Edward Eagle Brown Professor of Economics and Finance. What started as an informal discussion between the three GSB professors turned into an article for Levitt's New York Times Freakonomics blog where Diamond and Kashyap address the seven most frequently asked questions they have received from reporters and colleagues on the recent financial turmoil. The posting generated more than 200 comments within 24 hours of appearing on the site.
