Warren Batts Honored by National Association of Corporate Directors

Warren L. Batts, Adjunct Professor of Strategic Management, was recognized for his experience as a business leader by the National Association of Corporate Directors. Batts, who is chairman of the board of Methode Electronics Corporation, received the NACD’s Director of the Year Award. The award is given to a director who possesses an excellent leadership reputation, especially in governance and ethics; serves as a role model in promoting high professional standards for board and director performance; as well as mentors current and aspiring directors.

Batts brings years of practical knowledge to classes he teaches on general management and corporate governance. He draws on his tenure as the former CEO or COO of Tupperware Corporation, Premark International, Inc., Dart & Kraft, Dart Industries and Mead Corporation to bring real world experience to the classroom. In addition, he provide the director’s perspective based on his services on boards for Allstate, Cooper Industries, Sears, Roebuck and Co., Sprint, First National Bank of Atlanta, British Columbia Forest Products and Harte Hanks Communications.

Commenting on Batts’ award, Donald W. Duda, President and Chief Executive Officer of Methode Electronics stated, "We are privileged to have Warren on our board of directors. His presence on the board and appointment as Chairman was a major reason Methode was able to attract additional qualified independent directors, credentialed in finance, law, business and engineering."

Batts received his MBA with Distinction from the Harvard School of Business Administration and his BS in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.

He received the NACD honor on October 16, 2006 in Washington D.C.. NACD has over 17,500 members and customers who represent companies ranging from Fortune 100 public companies to small, over-the-counter, closely held, and private firms.
