Austan Goolsbee Named a Fulbright ScholarAustan Goolsbee, Robert P. Gwinn Professor of Economics, has been named a Fulbright Scholar for 2006-07. He will research Internet taxation in the U.S. and European Union while spending part of the upcoming academic year at the London School of Economics and the Institute for Fiscal Studies, also in London.
The Fulbright program, America’s flagship international educational exchange activity, is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Recipients of the Fulbright Scholar awards are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievement and because they have demonstrated extraordinary leadership potential in their fields.
In addition to his faculty position at Chicago GSB, Goolsbee is a research fellow at the American Bar Foundation and a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. He also is a columnist for The New York Times where he is one of four writers who pen the "Economic Scene" column.
