Each year, the editors of the Journal of Financial Economics collect votes from readers for the best paper in two areas. The Jensen Prize is awarded to the best paper in the area of Capital Markets and Asset Pricing. Dimensional Fund Advisors (DFA) generously supports the Fama-DFA Prize in recognition of the contributions the JFE and Professor Gene Fama have made to the understanding of capital markets and asset pricing.
The 2004 Jensen Prize was awarded to Douglas J. Skinner for a paper he wrote with two colleagues entitled “Are dividends disappearing? Dividend concentration and the consolidation of earnings.” Gene Fama won second place in the Fama-DFA prize for a paper he co-wrote entitled “New lists: Fundamentals and survival rates.”
