The large number of MBA programs available, according to the New York Times, has led to the need for business schools to differentiate themselves. As the Times puts it, one size no longer fits all.
Thus, curriculum becomes one way to evaluate which business school offers the best fit. The article provides a guide to programs based on what a person wants to do and his or her background.
Chicago GSB is highlighted as one of the few schools that allow students to take the broadest range of classes. Not only the does the GSB have a minimum of required courses, students are free to take classes in other schools at the university. The result is that students are able to explore their own interests as well as more aspects of the business world. The benefit is the flexibility to design a program that fits the individual and what he or she hopes to accomplish.
