Five I-Banking Future Power Brokers Spotted at Chicago GSB

In seeking out the next generation of top investment bankers, Crain’s Chicago Business included five Chicago GSB students among the top six in a story published August 29.

Crain’s surveyed them during their summer internships, asking whether they’d prefer to work in Chicago versus New York after graduation and whether they’d rather make money or do something they love, among other topics. Featured were Neale Fisher, who interned at Merrill Lynch ; Amy Kerrigan, summer associate at Robert W. Baird & Co .; and Udai Kumar, Jayant Mittal, and Elena Petrov, all summer associates at Credit Suisse First Boston .

Most said they plan to stay in Chicago after earning their MBA. I actually see an advantage to working mid-market, Kerrigan said. You get more client interaction, the deal teams are much smaller, [and] you have responsibility and get credit for the work you do.
