Fellowship to Help Attract Higher Percentage of Women Students

Compared to the number of women in leading medical and law schools, the percentage of women in top business schools is the lowest. At Chicago GSB, 29% of the class of 2007 is female.

In a move to help increase that percentage, a new fellowship program for women was announced. The Chicago Fellowships for Women will award selected students $50,000 in scholarship money during their two years of study. “This program is about lowering the obstacles – both financially and in terms of career progression – for women who want to pursue an MBA at Chicago,” Dean Edward A. Snyder said.

The Robert W. Baird Fellowship and the Deutsche Bank Fellowship are directed at talented women students in Chicago GSB. These fellowships depart from the usual scholarship model which begins and ends with tuition support. They both center on mentoring; individual development and career options; and corporate access.
