Roxanne Martino, ’88, president of Harris Alternatives profiled in Chicago Tribune

Roxanne Martino, ’88, was the subject of the August 15 Career Path column in the Chicago Tribune. The interview highlights the road Martino followed to her current position as president of Harris Alternatives, a hedge fund investment firm.

Martino, a science and math whiz, has been on a fast-track since high school. She graduated high school in three years, entering Notre Dame at 16. When she discovered business administration, she told the Tribune, she knew immediately that she’d found her niche.

Her first job was in auditing at Coopers & Lybrand, which she credits with giving her management skills that have served her throughout her career. She points to their culture of continual team reviews and professional development courses as key, according to the column.

She said she made the switch to hedge funds when she felt the need for a new challenge. Martino comments the industry where she gets to meet the “best and the brightest people in the world executing hedge fund strategies…..requires me to use all of my skill sets.”
