A highly diverse group of students in the Executive MBA Program met in Chicago last week for the annual orientation. “We welcomed 270 students from 48 countries for a week of classes and informal networking activities at the Hyde Park Center and Gleacher Center,” said Patty Keegan, director of the North America program.
Among them are students in XP-76, who will be based at the North American campus in Chicago; students in AXP-6, based at the GSB’s Asia campus in Singapore; and students in EXP-12, the first group based at the GSB’s new Europe campus in London.
Students spent a day at the Hyde Park Center June 20, where they were welcomed by Dean Edward A. Snyder at lunch in the Rothman Wintergarden and heard a keynote speech on the GSB’s approach to management education by Kevin Murphy, George J. Stigler Distinguished Service Professor of Economics:
During the week, students also attended lectures at Gleacher Center. Those who taught financial accounting included Ray Ball, Sidney Davidson Professor of Accounting; and Daniel Bens, associate professor of accounting. Those who taught microeconomics were Lars Stole, Eli B. and Harriet B. Williams Professor of Accounting; and Michael Gibbs, clinical professor of economics. In addition, faculty who taught a series of workshops on behavioral science, included Nick Epley, assistant professor of behavioral science; Linda Ginzel, clinical professor of managerial psychology; Joshua Klayman, professor of behavioral science; Tanya Menon, associate professor of behavioral science; and Bernd Wittenbrink, associate professor of behavioral science.
After orientation week, students returned to their home campuses to continue their MBA studies. Next summer, they will reconvene in international groups and spend time studying at the Singapore and London campuses.
