Brian Barry

Clinical Associate Professor of Economics, Chicago GSB

Brian Barry has been a journalist for The Economist since 1994, acting as a U.S. correspondent, Tokyo bureau chief, south-east Asia correspondent, management correspondent in London, as well as finance and economics correspondent in Washington. As a U.S. correspondent, he traveled broadly across the American interior, writing about politics, business, and economic and social trends. Barry was also a research associate at the Harvard Business School where he examined organization change and helped contribute to course development for the Organizations and Markets group.

Barry attended Swarthmore College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in economics with a minor in political science and graduated with honors in 1989. He earned his master's degree from the University of Rochester's Simon School of Business in 1994, where he received a National Doctoral Fellowship, awarded to the top 10 percent of business school doctoral students.

Brian Barry will be a panelist on the Session A panel, India, China and the Global Economy, at this year's Management Conference.
