In 1987-88, a total of 69,230 master’s degrees in business administration were granted in the United States. A decade later, that number had grown to 102,171––an increase of nearly 48 percent. But the growing demand for M.B.A.’s is about to run head-on into another growing trend: getting an M.B.A. through distance learning.
