Robert S. Hamada

Hamada’s affiliation with Chicago GSB didn’t begin when he assumed the deanship in July 1993. A faculty member since 1966, he has held many posts within the school’s administration and faculty. What follows is highlights of his career at the GSB.

1966-1989
Instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, and professor of finance Hamada was a popular teacher during these years, beginning as an instructor and rising to a chaired distinguished professor of finance. In 1970, he received the first outstanding teaching award given by the GSB; in 1981, he received the McKinsey Award for excellence in teaching. In 1982, Fortune magazine named him one of eight outstanding business school professors.
