ROBERT NAKASONE was appointed chief executive officer of Toys
R Us in February. The company is the number one American toy
retailer.
HENRY J. PREVOT was appointed president and chief operating officer
of LeSueur Incorporated in LeSueur, Minnesota. The company produces
aluminum castings using diecast, sand, and permanent molding processes.
Prevot has been with the company since
1987.
1972
RAY BALL, Ph.D. 72, was selected as the American Accounting Associations
Distinguished International Visiting Lecturer in Accounting for
1999. Ball is Wesray Professor of Business Administration and
professor of accounting at the William E. Simon Graduate School
of Business Administration at the University of Rochester in New
York. Ball, who is considered a leading authority on the economic
analysis of accounting and its linkage to financial markets, will
visit eight universities in South America during 1999.
MICHAEL PLESKO retired from Prudential after 25 years and started
Plesko Consulting, L.L.C., a Liberty, Missouri-based firm with
a focus on the insurance industry.

THOMAS R. HENKEL was named vice president of corporate strategy
and communications at Conoco in Houston. Previously he served
as general manager of the department.

STANLEY NOLLEN writes that he was a Fulbright senior research
scholar in India during the fall of 1997.

MARIJEAN CRAY recently joined the Northbrook, Illinois, office
of Smith Barney as a financial consultant.

STUART COHN left private law practice to become vice president
and general counsel of Web Street Financial Group, Inc., the parent
company of Web Street Securities, Inc., an online securities brokerage
firm. "Im pleased to report that in its March 16 cover story
on online brokers, Barrons financial weekly rated Web Street
(still less than a year old) number two among all online brokerage
firms," he writes.
STEVEN MANASTER, M.B.A. 72, Ph.D. 77, a faculty member at the
University of Utah, has joined the CFTC as chief economist and
director of the Division of Economic Analysis. He previously held
the chief economist post in 198990. A profile in Securities Week noted his appointment, calling Manaster "a fair-minded, personable,
and unbiased economist."
1979
SUSAN M. FLYNN writes that she has made a major change from computer
consultant to clinical psychologist. In 1994 she received a doctorate
in psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and
she is now a licensed psychologist in private practice in Hinsdale,
Illinois.
WILLIAM W. GWINN JR. has been named director of market strategy
at DecisionOne in Frazer, Pennsylvania. DecisionOne is North Americas
largest independent provider of multivendor computer maintenance
and technology support services.
J. ELIAS PORTNOY writes: "My firm, the Portnoy Group Inc., celebrated
its 10th anniversary and continues to expand its marketing consulting
practice with its brand identity seminars and workshop programs
for entities of all sizes. Branding is hot and we have been
fortunate in the past year to work with Disney, the Tribune Companies,
Orlando Sentinel Communications, Digital City, and the City of
Orlando, among others. We are now working with professional sports
organizations." The only downside, Portnoy reports, is that there
are few GSBers in Orlando to network with.
