FROM THE CHAIRS

Campaign Momentum Continues to Build
Since the publication of our last column, alumni and friends of the school have continued to donate generously to the campaign, which has exceeded $113 million. This new campaign total now reflects confirmed gifts and pledges only.

Welcoming Dean Snyder
In his first weeks as dean of Chicago GSB, Ted Snyder traveled to New York City to meet key East Coast alumni and attend a campaign steering committee meeting. While in New York, he attended a dinner hosted by Peter May, '65, and a reception sponsored by Karen Katen, A.B. 70, M.B.A. '74, and Pfizer for students working in New York City over the summer. Ted, who previously served as dean of the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia, is an experienced fundraiser who will lend considerable expertise and energy to the next phase of the campaign. His track record includes obtaining a $60 million gift for Darden, the largest gift to a graduate school of business from a single donor to date. He connected with Darden students as well, with 100 percent of the class of 2000 participating in their class gift effort. Ted is committed to the GSB Campaign, and we look forward to working with him.

Honoring Former Dean Hamada
Alumni around the country hosted farewell gatherings for outgoing dean Robert S. Hamada over the spring and summer. Patsy and George Conrades, XP-28 ('71), held a reception in their Boston home that was attended by more than 60 alumni, including Jim Kilts, '74, and Taylor Crouch, '83. More than 100 alumni attended an event hosted by Jack Wadsworth, '63, in San Francisco, including Myron Scholes, M.B.A. '64, Ph.D. '70, and former dean George Shultz. David Booth, '71, held an event in Los Angeles that drew many alumni from southern California, including Robert V. Adams, '61.
