“I swim because I need a break and because I want to stay healthy. Swimming also keeps my energy level high, which I think helps my research.”
Jennifer La’O, assistant professor of economics, was photographed by Chris Strong at Ratner Athletic Center in December. La’O, who has been swimming competitively since she was eight years old, was captain of the varsity swim team at MIT as an undergraduate. She set school and conference records in the 200- and 400-yard individual medley in 2004–05. Since coming to Booth last summer, La’O has been swimming three to four times a week as part of a Masters Swimming Group.—M.B.
