“Dancing is one of my biggest passions. When I dance, I am in a completely different world. And a competition is more than just dancing—it involves acting, and so much of it is about teamwork, about recovery if someone makes a mistake. It’s a big challenge, and that’s a big part of the attraction for me.”

Aiyesha Dey was photographed by Chris Strong at Arthur Murray Studio in Chicago just after returning from a national competition in Las Vegas in March. Dey, whose awards included 16 gold medals with honors, has been dancing since January 2006. She began lessons at the suggestion of Milt Harris, Chicago Board of Trade Professor of Finance and Economics, shortly after she came to Chicago Booth. When she’s not competing, Dey, assistant professor of accounting, dances one night a week.—M.M.B.
