Student-Led Marketing Groups

Offering professional workshops, networking opportunities, and social events for students interested in pursuing a career in marketing, the Full-Time student Marketing Group and part-time student Booth Marketing Club each saw substantial growth in numbers, reaching nearly 400 members.

This past year, both groups held events designed to inform students of the latest trends and career opportunities in the industry. These events further cultivated Booth’s diverse and expansive network of students, alumni, faculty, and recruiters while celebrating Chicago Booth as a top source for marketing talent.

Full-Time Students: Marketing Group

In October, the Full-Time student Marketing Group held their flagship event, the Sixth Annual Marketing Conference, under the theme, “A New School of Thought,” which addressed growing trends and challenges in the industry.

Keynote speakers included William McComb, CEO of Fifth & Pacific Cos. (formerly Liz Claiborne, Inc.), who presented, “Brand Refresh: Bringing Energy Back into a Business” and Michael Osanloo, executive vice president and President of Grocery at Kraft Foods, Inc., who presented, “The Challenge of Going Global and Staying Local.”

Other panels included senior level representatives from American Express, Campbell’s, Groupon, Nielsen Company, PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble, Progressive, and Wrigley

Part-Time Students: Booth Marketing Club

As part of their objective to bring members together and broaden marketing horizons, the Booth Marketing Club holds several events a year that cater to the growing demand for comfortable networking, guest speakers, and convenient scheduling. 

This year, BMC partnered with Booth TECH club in October for the event, “Entrepreneurial Marketing in the Internet Age.” Speakers included Seyi Fabode, CEO and founder of; Dan Ushman, CMO and cofounder of Inc.; and Casey Winters, online and interactive marketing director at

The event addressed entrepreneurship in a marketing context and founders shared their experiences on how to successfully market a start-up.
