New Submission/Review Website
We are happy to announce the launch of JAR's new submission/review website on Scholar One Manuscripts. Beginning at 12 a.m. CT on Friday, December 16, 2011, all new submissions (for the journal and conference) should be submitted using Scholar One site. All revisions of previously submitted manuscripts should continue to be sent to the BE Press through June 30, 2012. If you have any questions about using the new site, please contact Lisa Johnson, editorial manager.

New Editorial Structure at JAR
The editorial structure of the Journal of Accounting Research will be changed to improve efficiency and coordination. Under the current structure there are six editors: Phil Berger, Merle Erickson, Richard Leftwich, Haresh Sapra, Douglas Skinner, and Abbie Smith, with Ray Ball serving as coordinating editor. Such a large number of editors makes the coordination and planning of journal activities difficult. Under the new structure, there will be three editors, each of whom will serve for a fixed term. Phil Berger, Christian Leuz, and Douglas Skinner have agreed to serve under this new structure. Ray Ball will continue to serve as coordinating editor and Lisa Johnson will continue to serve, with a slight revision of title, as editorial manager. The editors, at their discretion, may choose to appoint advisory editors as well as guest editors for the conference volume.
Other activities of the journal will continue unchanged under the new structure. In particular, the current set of associate editors will continue to serve that role under the new structure.
The new structure will take effect on September 1, 2011. All new manuscripts submitted on or after that date will be handled by the new set of editors. Any papers still in process at JAR at that time will continue to be handled by the editor originally assigned to that manuscript.
The journal wishes to thank the outgoing editors - Merle Erickson, Richard Leftwich, Haresh Sapra, and Abbie Smith - for their outstanding service and valuable contributions to the Journal.

New Submission Fee Refund Policy
The Journal of Accounting Research reserves the right, at the editors' discretion, to return articles without external review (and without refund of submission fee) if they clearly fall outside the journal's area of interest and/or use methods that fall outside those conventionally used in the field.
