Should You Bet On the Jockey or the Horse?: Evaluating New Businesses From a Private Equity Perspective

Steven Kaplan, Neubauer Family Professor of Entrepreneurship and Finance, Chicago Booth

What are the key factors for entrepreneurs and investors to consider when deciding whether to pursue a new business? Which matters more -- opportunity or management? In other words, should you bet on the jockey or the horse? Come and listen to a talk by professor Steven Kaplan who will present his framework for evaluating entrepreneurial opportunities and new businesses.

Kaplan's talk is based on material from his extensive field research, including experience with start-ups from Chicago Booth's New Venture Challenge, a business plan competition that has successfully launched over 50 companies during its fourteen year history.

Please join us on December 17 in New Delhi for an opportunity to hear from esteemed Chicago Booth faculty and broaden your network. This event is open to all. We are pleased to offer admission free of charge. Advance registration is required for guaranteed admission
