Matt Butterworth, Class of 2013

mbutterw@ChicagoBooth.edu

Undergraduate School/Major:  I received my undergraduate degree in electronic and computer engineering from the University of Nottingham.

Prior to Booth:  Prior to Booth, I spent two and a half years teaching in a secondary school in London,  four years at a telecom company working in IT and engineering, with the last 3 years in India as a consultant and 6 months working in non-profit.

Activities:  Member of the Management Consulting Club, Sailing Club, Business Solutions Group, South Asia Business Group, Giving Something Back, Dean's Student Admissions Committee (DSAC0 and the Milton Friedman Group.

Summer internship plans:  I'm looking to work consulting.

Why did you choose to attend Chicago Booth? Fit; when I came for my interview I was able to meet people at Booth and I knew very quickly that I could be happy here for the next two years.

What do you consider a "must visit" place in Chicago? The John Hancock Tower, and the architecture tour.

Ask me about...: Adjusting to life in Chicago and the US, and recruiting as an international student.

Chris D'Cruz, Class of 2013

Gintautas Jankauskascdcruz@ChicagoBooth.edu

Undergraduate School/Major: I attended Durham University and majored in natural sciences in geology and anthropology.

Prior to Booth:  I worked in M&A lead advisory for three years.  I decided that I wanted to work somewhere more directly involved in creating more direct value in the economy, so I joined one of the clients for whom I worked ? a construction and development company. I spent three years in a corporate development role, where I managed the creation of three new work streams (M&E, RMV and EcoFit). I also refined various aspects of the operations and back office functions and collaborated to define a new marketing strategy.

Activities:  Member of the Energy Group, the Entrepreneurship & Venture Capital Group, the Latin American Business Group, the Emerging Markets Group, the Sailing Club, the Public Speaking Group, Chicago Global Citizens and Giving Something Back.

Summer internship plans:  The majority of my efforts are focused on starting my own business, or joining a start up; I'm also considering general management.

Why did you choose to attend Chicago Booth? Chicago is a great city! Booth?s flexible curriculum to me is reflective of its general style ? there are a huge number of opportunities available and Booth trusts us to prioritize and choose accordingly to our own individual desires, rather than forcing us down a fixed route. I got into four top programs and I met people from each and visited some of the campuses ? the community at Booth was just as friendly as the others, but seemed more confident and secure to me.

What do you consider a "must visit" place in Chicago? Chicago is the home of improv comedy, so one of the theaters: iO or Second City are great.

Ask me about...: Pursuing entrepreneurship having never been involved in that community before.

Sabrine Waismann, Class of 2013

Summer internship plans::  I am recruiting for investment banking.

Why did you choose to attend Chicago Booth? Booth was the best business school to challenge and shape my long-term goals, offering me a culture of original thought, an inter-disciplinary approach to learning and a uniquely flexible curriculum.  It has been an amazing opportunity to learn with such smart and caring classmates, professors and university staff. Starting from the day I received a call extending my admissions offer, Booth has supported me in more ways than I could have asked for.

What do you consider a "must visit" place in Chicago? Running by the Lake at sunrise.

Ask me about...: My favorite Booth experience.
