Undergraduate School/Major: I have a masters degree in engineering from Moscow State University of Mining.

Prior to Booth: I spent five years as an external auditor with Ernst & Young in Moscow, where I covered companies in the energy sector.

Activities: Member of the Management Consulting, Energy, Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Public Speaking and Chicago Global Citizens Groups.

Summer internship plans: I am pursuing opportunities in management consulting, investment banking, and selected corporate roles.

Why did you choose to attend Chicago Booth?  I chose to attend Booth for the flexibility of the curriculum, the quality of the faculty, strength of the career services, and the diversity of the student body.

What do you consider a "must visit" place in Chicago? A 'must-visit' is the Willis (Sears) Tower observation deck; a 'must-do' is to try Gino's pizza and Chicago-style hot dogs at Portillo's.

Ivan Safonov, Class of 2013

Undergraduate School/Major: I attended New Economic School and Lomonosov Moscow State University and majored in computer science and applied math and economics.

Prior to Booth: I spent two years in management consulting including Monitor Group and two years in corporate strategy at the largest oilfield services holding company and leading publishing house.

Activities: Member of the Entrepreneurship & Venture Capital, High-Tech, Media, Sports and Entertainment, Management Consulting, Marketing, Real Estate, European Business and Public Speaking Groups and the Epicurean Club.

Summer internship plans: I plan on working product management in high tech.

Why did you choose to attend Chicago Booth? I chose to attend Booth for the flexible curriculum, academic rigor and because Booth has the best professors.

What do you consider a "must visit" place in Chicago? The John Hancock Center, Magnificent Mile, Architecture River Tour, and Millennium Park (including 'the Bean').

Valeriy Zinchenko, Class of 2012

Undergraduate School/Major: I hold a diploma in linguistics (Spanish and English languages) from Moscow State Linguistic University and a master?s degree in communication and public relations from Institut Europeen des Relations Publiques in Paris.

Prior to Booth: I spent five years in marketing and PR roles with Alfa Group in Moscow, working for the retail banking and asset management divisions, and then worked for three years as vice president for brand management and PR for Nomos Bank in Moscow.

Activities: I am a co-chair of the Volleyball Club and an active member of the High-Tech Group, Management Consulting Group and Media, Sports and Entertainment Group.

Career plans: After graduation I plan to work in the high-tech industry in a product manager role. My short-to-midterm career goal is to work in a mobile space, preferably on the hardware side. My long-term goal is to acquire domain knowledge and experience in mobile and transition into tech venture capital.

Why did you choose to attend Chicago Booth? I chose to attend Booth because I wanted to round off my liberal arts degree with cutting edge finance and quantitative skills.

What do you consider a "must visit" place in Chicago? The Chicago Architecture Foundation tours - any and all of them are awesome!
