What do you consider a "must visit" place in Chicago? The Apollo Theater, the Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier and Chicago Bulls basketball.

Ask me about...: Living as a newbie in Chicago, life as an international student at Booth and conducting recruiting as a semi-career switcher.

Edi Ekhomu, Class of 2012

Edi Ekhomueekhomu@ChicagoBooth.edu

Undergraduate School/Major: I attended Illinois State University and majored in marketing.

Prior to Booth: Prior to Chicago Booth, I worked in brand management in an advertising agency, did card and product development within a commercial bank and did marketing strategy for a security Firm, all in Nigeria.

Activities:  Member of Chicago Global Citizens, the African American MBA Association, the Epicurean Club, the Management Consulting Group and the Chicago Africa Business Group.

Summer internship plans: I am recruiting for consulting and brand management.

Why did you choose to attend Chicago Booth? I was very drawn to Booth because I wanted to strengthen my analytic foundation. I believed in the "question everything" values that Booth stands for.  It was also an aspiration from my childhood to get into Booth.

What do you consider a "must visit" place in Chicago? I love the 'Magnificent Mile' especially around Christmas time; it is a 'must visit' anyone who comes during the season. During the summer, I recommend the botanical gardens, seasonal beer gardens, the museums, Navy Pier, John Hancock Observatory, the summer dance fest and other seasonal festivals. There are also great boat tours and architectural tours; it really depends on the season and what the visitor enjoys, but there is truly something for everyone.

Ask me about...: LEAD; I will tell you that it is the most thorough leadership training and feedback you will get. I was never a fan of feedback but LEAD taught me to truly internalize feedback and appreciate it. LEAD is one of the best times you will have with your classmates at Booth, it is a low risk and high energy environment, where you get to bond with a great deal of your classmates. I could not have thought of a better opening act for Booth.

Activities: Member of the African American MBA Association, Chicago African Business Group, Management Consulting Group, Marketing Group and the Wine Club.

Summer internship plans: I am recruiting for consulting and corporate roles.

Why did you choose to attend Chicago Booth? The flexibility at Booth goes beyond just the curriculum, it is at the heart of the school. The price of flexibility is responsibility, but that better prepares us for tough decision-making in the real world, in ambiguous and fast changing environments. I also appreciate Booth's diversity; students here are from every corner of the universe and every profession you can imagine. This diversity creates enriching dialogues in and outside the classroom. Finally the faculty; the professors are the best in their fields, very engaging in class and they are excellent at bringing real life events into classroom discussions.

What do you consider a "must visit" place in Chicago? Take an architectural tour of Chicago-the buildings are iconic.

Ask me about...: Student life, social life, adapting to the city and attending Booth as an international student.
