Edem Dzakpasuedzakpas@ChicagoBooth.edu

Undergraduate School/Major: I graduated from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology with a degree in electrical and electronic engineering.

Prior to Booth: I worked as a semiconductor engineer at Applied Materials in Austin, TX; I am the founder and CEO of EKAD Technologies in Accra, Ghana; I was the co-founder of Technology Brokers LLP in Boston; and I worked as a Network Systems Engineer for Proweb Solutions in Accra, Ghana.

Concentrations: Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, and Strategic Management.

Activities: I'm a member of the Investment Banking Group, Energy Group, High Tech Group, Public Speaking Group, Milton Friedman Group, Operations Strategy Group, and the Chicago Africa Business Group.

Career plans: I worked in technology investment banking for my summer internship and am now recruiting for investment management and corporate finance roles.

Why did you choose Chicago Booth? I chose to apply to and attend Booth because of the flexible curriculum and the analytical rigor of the MBA program. Additionally, the strong alumni network and outstanding faculty, some of whom are Nobel laureates and authorities in their areas of research, reinforced my interest in Booth.

Use three adjectives to describe your experience at Chicago Booth: Great, awesome, and rewarding.

What do you consider a "must visit" place or "must do" activity in Chicago? The Adler Planetarium is a "must visit" place to check out life in the cosmic world. That is the closest you can get to being an astronaut! Having dinner on a boat on Lake Michigan is a "must do" activity in Chicago. Not only is the ambiance great, the Chicago skyline at night looks amazing from the boat's view during the cruise.

Ask me about...: Switching careers from engineering to investment banking/investment management/corporate finance.
