Evelien Duyck, Class of 2014

Undergraduate School/Major: I graduated from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven with a degree in business engineering and a major in finance.

Prior to Booth: I worked in Financial Audit at Deloitte.

Concentrations: Analytic Finance, Econometrics and Statistics, Entrepreneurship, and Strategic Management.

Activities: I am a member of the Investment Banking Group, European Business Group, Belgian Business Students, and DSAC.

Career plans: I am recruiting for investment banking in London as well as consulting.

Why did you choose to apply to and attend Chicago Booth? I chose Booth for a variety of reasons: the excellent faculty quality (especially in finance), the people, the extremely collaborative culture and atmosphere, the flexible curriculum, the large Booth alumni network in Belgium, and much more.

Use three adjectives to describe your experience at Chicago Booth: Life-changing, challenging, and exciting.

What do you consider a "must visit" place or "must do" activity in Chicago? The Hancock Tower is awesome; the view up there is amazing. A 360 degree view of the city of Chicago gave me an ultimate kick to start off my two-year MBA journey. Other things that Chicago has to offer: many great bars and restaurants, Navy Pier, Millennium Park.

Ask me about...: Anything you like! Anything from being an international student at Chicago Booth to being a career switcher to the best places in Chicago to have dinner. Also ask me how to handle F.O.M.O. ("fear of missing out"), why I prefer an MBA in the US over a European MBA, and the best places in town to go for a run.

Pierre Maroye, Class of 2013

Undergraduate School/Major:  I graduated from the University of Louvain with a degree in engineering.

Prior to Booth: I worked in consulting at Deloitte and in a consulting start-up focused on technology advisory.

Concentrations: Accounting, Economics, Finance, and Strategic Management.

Activities:  I am a member of the Investment Banking Group, Belgian Business Students, Private Equity Group, Ski & Snowboard Club, Giving Something Back, and the Public Speaking Group.

Career plans: Private equity or corporate development (M&A within a company).

Why did you choose Chicago Booth? I chose Chicago for the school's strong faculty, especially in finance, and its general reputation. I also chose it for the flexibility of the curriculum and for the quality of the Career Services team. One final point for the Belgians considering Booth is that the Booth alumni network in Belgium is huge, much bigger than any other top US program.

Use three adjectives to describe your experience at Chicago Booth: Stimulating, rewarding, and fun.

What do you consider a "must visit" place or "must do" activity in Chicago?  Probably the first thing to do after arriving in Chicago is to go and have a drink at the top of the Hancock Tower, the view of the city is great! You have to try a burger at the Billy Goat Tavern just for the legend surrounding the place. Then it pretty much depends on what types of activity you like to do; Chicago has plenty to offer!

Ask me about...: Pretty much anything, such as how you can survive in Chicago without Belgian chocolates and Belgian beers! Anything regarding the choice between an MBA in Europe and in the USA, life in Chicago, the neighborhood where you should live to have an active social life.
