Ben Mactiernan, Class of 2013

Ben Mactiernanbmactier@ChicagoBooth.edu

Undergraduate School/Major: I attended The University of Melbourne and majored in environmental engineering and finance.

Prior to Booth: I worked in energy and resources.

Activities: Energy Club, Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Group, Asia Pacific Group, Emerging Markets Group, and the Soccer, Cricket, and Sailing clubs.

Summer Internship Plans: I'm recruiting for venture capital/private equity or general management.

Why did you choose to attend Booth? After engaging with a few of the students and fellow admitted students I felt that Booth was a great fit for me. Also, I believed the facilities and faculty at the school were outstanding.

What do you consider a "must visit" place in Chicago? Just walking around downtown and looking at the buildings. Some of the architecture here is amazing. The detail on some of the buildings when you look close is fascinating.

Ask me about...: Being an Australian at Booth.

Activities: Ski and Snowboard Club Co-Chair, Wine Club, Private Equity Group, Energy Club and the Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Group.

Plans after graduation: I'm planning on entering a general management and leadership rotational program.

Why did you choose to attend Booth? The prestige of the Chicago Booth brand and the faculty.

What do you consider a "must visit" place in Chicago? Any of the good blues bars (my favorite so far is B.L.U.E.S. in Lincoln Park).

Ask me about...: Finding rugby bars in Chicago and off-campus recruiting.
