Wide Range of Opportunities
Interim statistics for the class of 2009 will give you an idea of the range of location, function, industry, and source of internships.
- Last year, 100 percent of students attained an internship, with 80 percent of these positions facilitated through Chicago Booth.
- 76.8 percent of internships were in the United States, with international internships spanning all geographic regions.
- Internships covered 24 different functions, including brand/product management, business development, private client services, strategic planning, consulting, investment research, and private equity.
- Companies where interns landed include A.T. Kearney, Apax Partners Worldwide, Bain & Company, Credit Suisse, Cisco, Diageo, Dow Corning, Harrah's, IBM, Kraft, Procter & Gamble, Yahoo, T. Rowe Price, and United Airlines.
- Western Europe and Asia were the most frequent locations for internships outside the Unites States. In Asia, Hong Kong and Shanghai were the top cities. London and Paris ranked at the top of European locations.
Preparation
You'll have plenty of support and activities to help you identify, secure, and prepare for your internship. These include:
- a full-day conference organized by Career Services where alumni and other top professionals share firsthand experiences on their respective career paths and current roles;
- a flexible curriculum that allows you to take the courses you feel you'll need for success before your internship begins;
- over 150 corporate events where you can learn about internship opportunities and begin expanding your MBA network;
- student mentors who provide career advice and information about what to expect during an internship.
