Chicago African Business Group
Our Mission
The mission of the Chicago African Business Group is to build a close-knit community for the growing number of Chicago Booth students who have a strong interest in issues events and activities related to Africa. We welcome students from all nationalities and backgrounds. Our objectives and functions are as follows:
Our Objectives
- To promote and expose business opportunities in Africa to the Chicago Booth community.
- To provide a forum for professional networking among Chicago Booth students and alumni with an interest and/or experience in African development.
- To promote awareness of African culture and heritage at Chicago Booth.
- To attract African students to the Chicago Booth through outreach efforts.
- To support group members in achieving success both at Chicago Booth and in all future endeavors.
Our Functions
- Student Affairs Liaison: to liaise with the GBC and other Chicago Booth student groups.
- Career: to provide career counseling for members; to coordinate with the Chicago Booth professional clubs to co-sponsor Africa-specific career-oriented events.
- Community: to organize small group events to facilitate bonding among members; to publish a community newsletter and member directory.
- Treasury: to lead fundraising and money management.
- Alumni Relations: to liaise with alumni by organizing alumni parties and discussion panels.
- Social/Culture: to coordinate all social/cultural events (e.g. dinners outings, World Cup Golf Tournament, Kellogg/Chicago Booth outings etc.).
- Technology: to maintain the group website and group email lists.
