Events and Activities

Ebun Falusi

You certainly won't be bored at Chicago Booth. Your Blackberry will be filled with events and activities that offer you a chance to have fun, add an extra dimension to your studies or help prepare you for your career. Here's just a sample.

  • Business Forecast - Chicago Booth professors and prominent alumni take a look at what they see as the trends shaping the coming year.  The event, which started over 45 years ago, is held in more than 18 cities around the world. Read coverage of one of last year's events.
  • Students Treks - You can investigate working in another part of the country or world and make networking connections. Visits have included trips to New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Bangalore, London, Hong Kong and Buenos Aires.
  • Chicago Booth Follies - Each year students write, act in and produce this talent show. You really get to see a new side to classmates as they get in touch with their inner diva or rock star. Check out some clips.
  • Liquidity Preference Functions - Relax after a week of classes at Friday night receptions, which are often organized around a theme and where students and their families and partners can kick back and mingle.
  • Latin America Business Conference - Just one of several student-run events, here you can hear leaders from companies active in the region discuss the challenges they face and learn where opportunities exist. Many speakers are alumni, so you can also make valuable contacts. Other student conferences include entrepreneurship, business in Asia, microfinance and risk management. Read past event coverage.
  • Guest speakers - Gain insights into current topics and issues when leaders from business and government visit campus. See list of past speakers.
  • Worldwide Chicago Booth Night - New admits, current students and alumni gather together in cities around the world. (View photos and events from last year.)
  • Management Conference - For 55 years, this event has featured faculty, business leaders and alumni who examine issues faced every day in the workplace and apply the very best in conceptual knowledge, academic theory and practical solutions. Last year, over 1000 people attended. Read about the 2010 conference.
  • Alumnae Connections - Sponsored by the Chicago Women in Business Alumnae Network, these are an opportunity to meet one-on-one with a Chicago alumna. Many regions of CWIBAN host admit receptions to introduce incoming women to each other and to local alumnae.
