Andrei Kovrijnykh studies the fields of managerial accounting, microeconomic theory, and labor economics with specific focus on specialization, reputational incentives, and managerial compensation.

Originally from Russia, Kovrijnykh earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Novosibirsk State University in 1998. In 2001, he earned a master's degree in economics from the Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education at Charles University in Prague. He earned a PhD in economics from the University of Chicago in 2008 with a dissertation entitled, "Career Uncertainty and Human Capital." Kovrijnykh joined the Chicago Booth faculty the same year. Outside of academia, he enjoys soccer, chess, and skiing.
