Adair Morse

Assistant Professor of Finance

Adair Morse studies household finance, corporate governance, and private equity. Currently, she is working on documenting and understanding the portfolios of sovereign wealth funds and on understanding why individuals include high-debt instruments in their portfolios. In the past, she has completed corporate governance research both on corporate fraud and incentives in whistleblowing and on CEO compensation. She teaches or has taught entrepreneurial finance and private equity, valuation, and macroeconomics.

Morse brings years of experience to the classroom. As an entrepreneur, she was a foundering partner of Bascule Leather Goods in Atlanta and Poland. In addition, she was an assistant controller at National Employer Solutions, Inc., a district accounting manager/auditor at Browning-Ferris Industries, an English teacher in Poland, and an intern at the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, DC. Additionally, she has taught courses at the University of Michigan and Purdue University.

Morse is the 2008-2009 William Ladany Scholar and recipient of the University of Michigan Emeritus Faculty Doctoral Award, Olin Law and Economics Fellowship, Mitsui Life Financial Research Center Fellowship, Ludwig-Kruhe Graduate Fellowship, and the Purdue University Andrews Fellowship. She also was named to the Gamma Sigma Delta Honor Society in Agriculture, Omicron Delta Epsilon Honor Society in Economics.

She earned a PhD in finance from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan in 2007. Morse also holds two master's degrees from Purdue University, one in statistics received in 2001 and one in agricultural economics completed in 1999. She was Phi Beta Kappa from Colgate University where she earned a bachelor's degree magna cum laude in 1990.
