Shinwoo introduced new ideas from class at work right away. "Fundamentals give you a way to think through the problem when there’s no quick answer."

City Life - Singapore

A blend of East and West; tradition and modernity. The best of both in culture and cuisine; arts and architecture. While bustling with 21st-century commerce, quiet refuges of days gone by still linger. A city that constantly revinvents itself in pursuit of prosperity.

  • One City, Many People - A mixture of Malay, Chinese, Indian and European influences, all of which have intermingled, give Singapore a unique character. Signs of all can cultures be seen in the old streets of Chinatown; the Muslim characteristics of Arab Street; in Little India along Serangoon Road; and the British colonial influence in the Neo-classical buildings. The civic calendar also reflects the ethnic blend with Chinese New Year, Buddhist Vesak Day, Muslim Eid ul-Fitr, Hindu Diwali, and Christmas Day.
  • Little Island, Big Success - An economic powerhouse in the region since its beginnings as a trading crossroads, Singapore is the only industrialized nation along the equator. Its asian values and western innovtion have led great success. Singapore excels in shipping, electronics, petrochemicals and finance.
  • Serene Gardens, Sleek Skyscrapers - The central business district is home to a cluster of modern high rise buildings, three of which are among the 75 tallest buildings in the world, This includes the 73-storey Swissôtel The Stamford by I.M. Pei. Balancing the concrete and glass are numerous parks that give Singapore its "green lungs." Among them are the Bukit Timah and Central Catchment where you can see more than 840 flowering plants and over 500 species of animals.
  • Food Glorious Food - With so many cultural tradtions to draw upon, eating is a national passion. One way Singapore makes its easy to try all the tasty dishes is by bringing food vendors together in bustling hawker centers. You can sample chili crab, satay, roti prata (Indian "pizza"), goreng pisang (bananas rolled in flour), Hokkien Noodles (seafood noodle delight), tao suan (bean in sticky paste, topped by fried dough).

"You walk into class, you discuss a theory. You walk out, and how you begin to think about addressing a particular problem or scenario is almost intuitive."
