TITLE
Edward L. Kaplan, ’71, Founder and Former Chairman and CEO, Zebra Technologies
In 2012, Edward L. Kaplan, ’71, endowed the Chicago Booth New Venture Challenge (NVC) with a $2 million donation. The NVC has had a significant impact on the University of Chicago campus and on economic development in Chicago and other parts of the world. Today, the NVC is one of the country’s most successful venues for creating new business ventures. Since its inception in 1996, more than 75 alumni companies have raised over $235 million in equity capital, and have created over 1,000 jobs. The endowment will insure NVC’s long term viability and ability to expand beyond its current limits.
