President, Uber Japan

Tak Shiohama is the president of Uber Japan, a Japanese entity of Uber Technologies, a San Francisco based technology company (www.uber.com). Uber is evolving the way people move in cities all over the world by seamlessly connecting riders to drivers through its apps. Uber has been rapidly growing from its founding in 2009 to its launches in over 100 cities today. Shiohama is managing overall business of Uber in Japan with a current focus on Tokyo. Uber quickly became very popular among urban professionals and young women in Tokyo with its social media focused marketing.

Prior to Uber, Shiohama worked as the president and the chairman of Rosetta Stone Japan, a language learning software company. He also has experience in leadership roles in both global and local companies including A.T. Kearney, Accenture, SAP, Revlon, and Askul. Shiohama received his BA in economics from Osaka Prefecture University, and his MBA from the Chicago Booth.
