Matt Whitaker, '95
Director, Clear Rock Advisors
Matt Whitaker graduated from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 1995. He is currently a member of the University of Chicago’s Alumni Board of Governors (ABG), where he is national co-chair of volunteer caucus, serves on the development and divisions committees, and is a member of the new entrepreneurship task force. In DC, he is the long-standing chair of the Booth DC Entrepreneur’s Advisory Group, a group that has met monthly for more than twelve years. He also served as president of the University of Chicago’s DC alumni club for three years. In 2012, he was honored with an Alumni Service Award from the University of Chicago.
Whitaker is a director with Clear Rock Advisors, an M&A advisory firm focused on the lower middle market and offering sell-side, buy-side, and valuation services. He is also the owner of Intelligent Office of Alexandria, an executive office suite which provides virtual office services including live-answer telephone receptionist services for more than 150 clients. Prior to acquiring Intelligent Office of Alexandria, Whitaker founded, grew, and sold Smart Payment Solutions, LLC, a payment processing company focused on ACH payment processing, credit card merchant accounts, and returned check processing. Previously, he was the COO of iFinance, business manager at Capital One, and a manager at AT Kearney Management Consultants. Prior to attending business school, he was a production manager at a Procter and Gamble manufacturing facility. Whitaker served four years as an officer in the US Navy, primarily as gunnery officer on USS Comte de Grasse (DD 974). He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BSE in Mechanical Engineering and from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with an MBA with high honors. He is on the executive committee and serves as the marketing vice chair of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. He resides in Arlington with his wife, Susan Demske, daughter Josie, 6, and son Miles, 4.
