Manager, PPP Advisory in East Asia and the Pacific, International Finance Corporation
With 25 years’ experience in infrastructure development and financing in developing economies, Saravia heads IFC’s PPP transaction advisory work in East Asia and the Pacific out of Hong Kong. His active portfolio includes several IPPs, and PPPs in tourism, water supply, solid waste management, urban transport, and transport (roads, ports, and airports) sectors.
Prior to this role, Saravia spent ten years at the World Bank in Washington, Saudi Arabia, and Poland. Saravia gained experience in institutional and regulatory frameworks, and design and implementation of privatization reforms in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia. Saravia also spent seven years with the government in his native Bolivia where he held various positions including undersecretary of the Treasury and secretary of Capitalization.
Saravia holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA and a master’s degree in management engineering from the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, CT.
