Founder and CEO, Leopard Capital
Douglas Clayton is the founder and CEO of Leopard Capital, a pioneer investor in frontier markets since 2007. Leopard Capital manages Leopard Cambodia Fund and Leopard Haiti Fund, which together have made 15 investments in basic sectors such as financial services, electricity, telecoms, beverages, and agriculture. Leopard’s next project focuses on the greater Mekong sub-region.
Clayton has worked and invested in Asia for nearly three decades, having earlier held senior executive positions at CLSA, Credit Agricole Indosuez WI Carr Securities, and Abacus Equity Partners. He frequently speaks about frontier investing in the media, industry events, and business schools. Clayton serves on the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA)’s Asia council, on the board of trustees of the Center for Khmer Studies, and on the board of directors of Kingdom Breweries and dloHaiti Inc. Clayton earned a master of management from Thailand's Chulalongkorn University, and a bachelor of arts in history from Cornell University.
