Christine Schuster, '89

President and Chief Executive Officer, Emerson Hospital

Christine Schuster has over 25 years of health care experience. Prior to joining Emerson in 2005, she served as president and CEO of Quincy Medical Center and previously Athol Memorial Hospital. She also served as CEO of the Extended Care Division of Tenet Saint Vincent Healthcare System in Worcester and director of critical care at New England Deaconess Hospital. Early in her career, she was a health care consultant with Coopers & Lybrand.

Schuster was appointed by Governor Romney and served on the board of directors of the Massachusetts Health Education and Financing Authority where she was elected chairman of the board. She serves as chairman of Power Options, as a board member of the Massachusetts Council of Community Hospitals, as a corporator for Middlesex Bank, and on the MHA Standing Committee on Finance. In 2007, she was named to Governor Patrick’s transition team, serving on the Health Care Taskforce. Schuster has received a number of awards for her efforts, including the the 2011 Citizen of the Year Award from the Concord Chamber of Commerce. She received an MBA with honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BS in nursing from Boston University.
