Cesar Pérez Barnés

Partner, Southern Cross Group

Cesar Pérez Barnés is a partner and the head of the Mexico office of the Southern Cross Group (SCG). Southern Cross is a private equity firm founded in 1998 to make control investments in Latin American companies that have significant potential for improved performance and growth. SCG is currently investing Fund IV, the largest fund in Latin America, which has commitments of $1.7 billion.  

Prior to joining SCG in 2007, Pérez was a principal with Advent International in its Mexico City office. Before then he was a principal with Booz Allen in the energy practice of the firm. Pérez started his career with McKinsey & Co. where worked in the Mexico City, Sao Paulo, and Madrid offices. In 2002, he launched the operations of Endeavor Mexico, an international NGO that promotes high impact entrepreneurship in emerging markets, where he served as its first managing director.

Pérez has an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management and an MS in engineering systems also from MIT. He has a BS in chemical engineering from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He is a member of the board of More Pharma, Javer, and Planigrupo. He is also member of the board of AMEXCAP, a member of the advisory board of Endeavor Mexico, and a member of YPO´s Mexico City chapter.
