Dr. Artyom Burtsev, '12 (EXP-17)

Resource Maturation Portfolio Lead, Upstream International, Shell International Exploration and Production

Dr. Artyom Burtsev presently serves as the resource maturation portfolio lead, Upstream International Division, at Shell International Exploration and Production BV, The Netherlands. He has been with Shell since 2004, beginning his career as a senior reservoir engineer, where he dealt with oil reservoir characterization, modeling and simulation, field evaluation and development, and then undertaking business advisory roles in technology and strategy divisions. Prior to his role with Shell, he conducted post doctoral research at the Delft University of Technology.

In addition to his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Burtsev has a PhD in fundamental physics from the Delft University of Technology and a degree from Belarus State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics.

A native of Belarus, Burtsev has spent the last 15 years in the Netherlands, where he now lives with his wife and two-year-old son. In his spare time, Burtsev pursues his interests in CrossFit, music, and cars.
