Rolf Banz, '78
Rolf Banz, '78, is an independent consultant to a number of institutional investors, having retired from Pictet Asset Management at the end of 2011. He was chief investment architect at Pictet from 2001 to 2011.
He started his career teaching at several business schools in Europe and in the US and is renowned for first identifying the Small-Cap Effect. Banz subsequently founded an investment management firm in London that specialized in small-cap strategies for institutional investors. He subsequently sold it to Alliance Capital and became responsible for its London office.
Banz graduated from the ETH (Federal Institute of Technology) in Zurich with a degree in engineering. He later received an MBA from INSEAD and a PhD in economics and finance from Chicago Booth.
