Max Bardon, '93

General Manager, Gift Cards, Amazon

Max Bardon currently leads Amazon’s gift card business, a large and growing part of Amazon that develops the platform and drives the sales and marketing of gift cards and other pre-paid products to consumers, corporate clients, and developers. Prior to joining Amazon, Max was president and CEO of Whitepages.com where he led all aspects of the company growing revenue from $3MM to $75MM and employees from 13 to 120, while maintaining a 40 percent margin. Under Max’s leadership, Whitepages.com became a top 50 Comscore rated website (one of only five private companies in the top 50) and raised $45MM in growth equity financing. Prior to WhitePages.coms, Max cofounded GiftCertificates.com, creating the business plan, securing seed and VC funding, and launching the web business. Over the next several years Max contributed to growing the company to over $65MM in sales with 250 employees and raised $80MM in VC funding while holding a number of executive roles overseeing product management, sales, technology, and marketing. Prior to GiftCertificates, Max spent three post-MBA years as a consultant at Bain & Company.

Max holds dual degrees in management information systems and accounting from the University of Cincinnati where he graduated magna cum laude. Max also received an MBA from the University of Chicago where he graduated with honors. Between undergraduate and graduate school, Max spent two years at Procter & Gamble as a programmer in its management systems division.
