Spring Dinner is an annual celebration for the CWiB members as they leave for their summer internships and graduate to pursue their new careers. The event was held on May 10 at Café Brauer in Lincoln Park commencing with a reception networking hour. More than 160 female students, faculty and staff members connected while sharing a spectacular view of the Chicago skyline and enjoying hors d'oeuvres and a signature champagne drink. The reception was followed by an elegant three-course dinner accompanied by keynote speaker Mary Tolan ‘92, Founder and CEO of Accretive Health. Mary discussed key issues such as balancing work with motherhood, building the culture of a company, and risk-taking to leave Accenture to pursue her own passions. Attendees were inspired by Mary’s imparted wisdom.
Closing remarks were then given by the incoming CWiB co-chairs, who presented each of outgoing co-chairs with parting gifts in an annual Spring Dinner tradition. The evening concluded with dark chocolate mousse with crème caramel, ricotta cheesecake with stonefruit compote and lots of dancing.
Planning for this event was similar to planning for a wedding, with the floral arrangements, linens and DJ. In some ways, this celebration is like a marriage because it is until death do us part with the school. Once we graduate, we will always be a part of the Booth family.
